Another day in Paradise…

Road Trip up the Hemel en Aarde Valley to discover what Sumaridge and Hamilton Russell have to offer thirsty travellers.

What beautiful settings, surroundings, vineyards and most importantly wines they both have to offer.

Sumaridge Wine Estate boasts with not only a variety of divine wines ranging from Chardonnay, Merlot, their Epitome and Pinot Noir, they also have with incredible views of the ocean in the distance, of their vineyards and the majestic Mount Babylon. Their winemaker and viticulturist Grant Patterson is passionate about wine making and it shows by the impressive number of prestigious local and international awards their wines have accumulated. Sumaridge is certainly the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious cheese platter and a glass or two of their famous “The Wayfarer” Bubbly.

Hamilton Russell is one of the more established wine estates on the Hemel en Aarde Valley Wine Route. The farm was bought by Tim Hamilton Russell back in 1975 where he renovated the run down farm house and work laboriously to make his wine farming dream a reality. They have become world famous for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, where the grapes are grown on low vigour, stony, clay-rich Bokkeveld shale slopes. The quaint little tasting “cottage” on the banks of the dam gives you the opportunity to sit back, relax, take in the serenity of the surroundings and of course to sip on a chilled glass of Chardonnay… To die for and a must visit when exploring the Wine Route.
