Geoff and Charlise Elske own and manage the Manor, with their primary focus on the guest experience as their motto says – “arrive a stranger and depart as a friend”. We are fully bilingual en "Ons praat graag Afrikaans!"
The guest experience not only includes warm hospitality, but a focus on the bed or sleep experience, and of course the eating experience - Charz' yummy non conventional cooking!
With more than 35 years’ experience in the travel and hospitality industries, and having traveled extensively both in Southern Africa and abroad, they have developed the Manor based on their personal experiences to meet the needs of travelers – whether an overnight stay or for a longer period.
Charlise who has been cooking since the age of 12, and is an executive Chef by trade, she started the famous family owned restaurant The Goblins Cove, situated in the Magaliebsurg, and held the position of Executive Chef for 4 years at the Top SA Wedding Venue – Oakfield Farm in Gauteng, she will ensure that guests meals will be a talking point when they leave.
Her artistic flair has also ensured that the décor of the Manor is simplistic, unique, and personal and part of the establishment of the Manor goal was that the furnishings and fittings were either re-purposed or made by hand.
Geoff has worked in both the local and global travel and tourism industry, and has extensive experience in these fields, which includes owning and managing his own hospitality venues, restaurant pubs, to managing local, inbound and outbound tour operations. Having been involved and headed up the AA’s Accommodation Quality Assurance programme means that guests can be assured of a quality stay, combined with the guest’s needs being met based on what he wanted or needed from his extensive travel’s. An avid traveler, writer, blogger and photographer allows Geoff to provide insight on activities as well as for arranging conferences, trips, tours, etc.
Mountain View Manor is the latest property, and expansion into the Western Cape, of the family owned hospitality business which has 2 other guesthouses in the Magaliesburg, namely Out of Africa and La Provence, as well as the World famous Goblin’s Cove Restaurant.
Geoff and Charlise are passionate about recycling or re-purposing from which a new business has been born by learning what can be done as they furnished and decorated Mountain View Manor.
Passionate about development and training, they will become involved in not only mentoring selected entrepreneurs from the Hermanus area, but will be implementing training courses designed to provide practical experience, supported by accredited certification through their training business.
